Honey, lemon and avocado are three commonly-used household ingredients that are sure to help give you glowing, radiant skin this summer. These masks are simple to make and easy to apply.

Raw, organic honey is a potent, yet gentle, antibacterial agent and is full of antioxydants which help fight skin-damaging free radicals and promote skin regeneration while gently cleansing your skin.

Lemon contains alpha-hydroxy acids (AHAs), which help remove dead skin cells and acts to brighten skin and even out skin tone. Please note: sensitive skin may be irritated by lemon so test a bit on another area of the body, such as the back of your hand, before applying to face. Always use sunscreen and protection for your face (hat, umbrella) with sun exposure after using a mask containing lemon as your skin will be more susceptible to UV radiation.

Avocados, in and of themselves, are considered a superfood containing essential iron, potassium, calcium, magnesium and vitamins A, B, E and K. In a mask they act as a deep skin moisturizer. They also help protect the skin from sun radiation.

For all the masks: prepare your face by applying a warm wash cloth for two minutes. This opens up your pores. Pat your face dry before applying the mask to ensure it stays in place. Masks always work better on a clean face.

Honey and Lemon Mask

Honey can be used by itself as a mask. Its properties alone help restore skin’s glow, fight acne and promote skin regeneration.  Simply apply two table spoons of raw organic honey to your face and neck. After 20 minutes rince with warm water. Pat face dry.

Add a few drops from freshly-cut lemon to two table spoons of honey. A little goes a long way – too much lemon tends to water down the mask making it more difficult to apply. If you are looking for a natural way to brighten and even skin tone this is the way to go! Apply mask to prepared face, avoiding eyes, leave for 15 minutes (10 minutes for your first time), rince with warm water. Pat skin dry.

Avocado and Honey Mask

This mask is great for those who need a little extra moisture on their face whilst getting the regeneration and cleansing power of honey.

Scoop out one avocado discarding the pit. Mash it in a bowl with a fork. Add 1-2 table spoons of honey. Continue to mash with hands until you get the right consistency. Apply to prepared face. Leave 20 minutes. Rince with cool water.
