I’ve gotten so many questions about this topic, I decided to write a post about a few of my favorite French beauty products for summer (and beyond!).
As most of you already know, the French are well known for their AMAZING pharmacies where you can buy from hundreds of brands of French-made beauty and health products. After living 10 years here, I have gotten the chance to test lots of different products, so I wanted to share with you some that are awesome and are available either on Amazon or in your local stores in the US!
- Le Petit Marseillais
Le Petit Marseillais is a well-known brand of soaps and lotions that has been a staple product for the French for decades. What I love about this brand: their dedication to making natural products that smell and work well without the high price tag.
I have seen their products at Walmart in the US so they have found an American market as well. My personal favorite is the hydrating lotion which runs around $7:
They also have amazing bars of soap that smell of lavender, almond etc, that make your skin feel amazing. I personally prefer to use bars of soap over shower gel because I find they contain less harmful ingredients and its, of course, better for the environment. I just wish there was a better way to store them in the shower!
- Bioderma Sensibio H2O Micellar Water, Cleansing and Make-Up Removing Solution
Gweneth Paltrow, when she created her beauty blog, Goop, chose this product as one of her first recommendations, and she was not wrong! With my sensitive Danish skin (thanks mom), I am always testing products to find ones that don’t either make my skin flair up like someone smashed strawberries on my cheeks or make my skin greased like a bicycle wheel. The struggle is real!
I use Bioderma to clean makeup and cleanse, and I use their face lotion for sensitive skin to hydrate. I haven’t seen this one in stores in the US, but it is available on Amazon at a pretty comparable price to that in France at around $11.
- NUXE Huile Prodigieuse Multi-Purpose Dry Oil
Ok, this stuff is a little pricier at around $49 per bottle, available on Amazon, but believe me a little bit goes a long way. Although I could probably bathe in this stuff! My favorite part: it smells amazing. Especially in the summer, I think it is better than any perfume I’ve tried.
I also love to use it as a finishing product on the ends of my hair to give it just a little extra shine. And since it is a dry oil it doesn’t leave the residue like regular body oils.
There you have it: three of my favorite French brands for beauty and skin care. I have others I love but will save that for another day. If you aren’t already a member and you love the beauty and fashion, be sure to join our private collective Ellee Belle Fashion Collective.
